Online language level test

An online test is essential to determine your current language level. There are 68 questions in the test. Carefully study the instructions before starting the test. Every question needs to be answered. Points will not be deducted for the wrong answer, but any unanswered question will be marked as “incorrect”. The online test is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.

How much time does the test take?

The test takes about 30-35 minutes. The results will appear on the screen after the test is complete, at the same time you will receive the result on your email. A copy of the test results is sent to the language centre chosen at registration.

We recommend that you take the test in a quiet environment so that no one disturbs you, as the test also includes questions on listening and your answers are limited in time.

PROGRAM RECOMMENDATION

The test result will show you the current language level according to the Berlitz scale. If you are at the interface of two levels, we will help you decide based on your specific needs.

Technical requirements

To perform the test, make sure that your computer and Internet connection meet the following requirements:

For computer users:

  • An Internet browser like Safari, Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer 10 and higher.
  • Supported OS like Windows 10, 8, 7 or the latest version of iOS.
  • Sound card, external speakers, or headphones with microphone. Disable pop-up blocker.

For smartphone and tablet users:

  • Supported mobile operating system: the latest version of iOS, Android or Windows Phone.
  • Supported mobile browsers: the latest version of Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. For an ideal test setting, please read the instructions on the test homepage after entering your personal data.

  • The most common technical problems that occur during an online test are: Pop-ups are blocked, the network is “overloaded” (try it at a different time or on another network), the firewall blocks access to the test.

We also test your active knowledge by telephone testing.
